The new trailer just dropped for the Disney Plus series Hawkeye, which continues the story of Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, and introduces fans to Kate Bishop, who is played by Hailee Steinfeld. Fans are raving after watching the trailer due to a handful of “Easter eggs” taken straight from the pages of the Hawkeye comic series by Matt Fraction and David Aja back in 2012. Here’s an in depth look at some of the references from the trailer!

The Tracksuit Mafia/Draculas/Bros

Judging from the trailer, it’s a safe bet that the infamous Tracksuit Mafia (or as Clint calls them, the Tracksuit Draculas) will be playing a pivotal role in this series. The group can be seen harassing both Clint and Kate in multiple scenes.

During the car chase from the trailer, Kate even shoots one of Hawkeye’s exploding arrows at a van which says “Trust a Bro” on the side!

No Powers, More Problems?

One of the defining elements fans remember from the 22-issue comic series is how it made use of the fact that neither Clint nor Kate had any superpowers. This made the stories far more interesting and grounded for readers. The new trailer definitely makes it abundantly clear that both Clint and Kate will experience the pain of vulnerability throughout the series. During the trailer, the two are seen getting beaten up, falling from high places, and icing injuries. Clint even appears to be wearing hearing aids, which is another nod to his comic battles with the Tracksuit Draculas.

Lucky the Pizza Dog

Perhaps the most exciting Easter egg of the entire trailer is the one with the least context. Very briefly and towards the end of the trailer, you can catch a glimpse of a one-eyed dog sitting on a couch. This is clearly meant to be Lucky the pizza dog, who in the comics was owned previously by a member of the Tracksuit Mafia, before turning on his owner and helping Hawkeye instead.

Overall, this has the potential to be the best Marvel series yet. Until then, go check out Hawkeye by Matt Fraction and David Aja.
