Donny Cates’ epic run on Venom came to an end back in June, and what a ride it was! Cates elevated Marvel’s self-proclaimed “Lethal Protector” higher than ever before. He literally pitted Venom against a god. That’s a far cry from the character’s humble beginnings back on the final page of Amazing Spider-man #299.
An All-New Era
With that said, what is next for Venom? Well, that question will be answered this October by writers Ram V and Al Ewing. Along with artists Bryan Hitch, Andrew Currie, and Alex Sinclair, they will be tasked with launching an all-new saga for everyone’s favorite symbiote vigilante.
What do We Know?
Aside from the fact that Venom #1 launches in October, here are a few things we can look forward to this Fall. Marvel is promising a “twisted new vision” of Venom. Writers Al Ewing and Ram V are prepared to tell a story that is both dramatic and dangerous, and they’ve got the credentials to follow through.
Both have paid their dues in the horror department, with Ewing’s most recent work on Immortal Hulk receiving rave reviews. Ram V has also promised that this new take will expand the Venomverse to horrifying new places. He could barely hold back his own excitement.
Hitch explained: “When my editors at Marvel reached out about taking on Venom alongside Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch, I was not prepared for the kind of creative thrill it has been ever since. This story is going to expand and push the symbiote narrative and lore in even more unexpected and fantastic directions.”
It’s clear that the creative team is ready to pour their hearts and souls into this book. Marvel has released the first look at Bryan Hitch’s cover for Venom #1, and it is astounding!
